Note on Husband: John Berry "Jack" WRIGHT

Born at Land Farm, Sandford.JB Joined the army in 1905. He fought in the first battle in Flanders in August 1914, and in 1918 was invalided out with a broken leg.Probabaly in the Royal Army Service Corps according to military experts who have examined his cap badge in photos.

In 1891 Annie is at Bythedown Farm with her parents.

By 1901 Annie is working as a "cook domestic" in the house of the Bearne family - occupation of Lewis Bearne given as "Clay merchant and Lieutenant-Colonel, Volunteers" at Brianstowe, Kingsteignton.

In 1911 she is a servant at Cowley Place, the house of Arthur Wyatt Edgell- JP. In addition to the five family members there are 8 servants in the house.

It was while she was working at this house that John Berry Wright, cycling to work in Exeter noticed her sitting on the wall, and struck up a conversation, which led to their marriage.
