From Ralph Miller "Mother married twice, first to my father - Ralph Rillman Miller jr who was descended from one of the Mayflower passengers - Priscilla Mullins. She had me in 1939 and my sister Pamela in 1944. My father did not serve on active duty in WW II because he had a defense job at the Boeing aircraft company in Seattle. He helped to design the B-17 bomber. I grew up in Seattle then NY City and Yonkers. My mother and father divorced while I was at college. My mother remarried about two years later to a John Berman, a man considerably younger than herself. She eventually died when aged 64 of, I believe CJ Disease - you may know it as Mad Cow disease."
Margaret and baby Ralph sailed from Honolulu to Vancouver on 20 September on the SS Awatea. They were travelling to 4028 Brooklyn Avenue, Seattle, Washington.
