Cross Farm was completely destryed by fire on Friday 15 March 1929 - the ancient cob and thatch farmhouse succumbed to a chimney fire which set the thatch ablaze. rthe fire was discovered by Elsie at 4.00pm. The fire brigade turned out led by Parry Jones, but many effects were lost. They moved to Poughill village until the farm was rebuilt.
