On the 1901 census Charles is a medical student, living at 10 Albert Street,St Pancras. He went on to become a noted pioneer specialist in the successful treatment of tuberculosis. He qualified as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1904, and as a Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians of London in 1904. He was registered on 2nd February 1905, in England. His entry in the 1913 Medical Register gives his address as the Dartmoor Sanatorium, near Chagford, Devon.
