Note on Husband: John Baker

In 1851 John is an apprentice with Druggist and Grocer Joseph Copeland, at High Street, March, Cambridgeshire.By 1861 he has qualified as a druggist, and is working for Joseph's widow, Elizabeth, now described as Chemist and Druggist, still in the High Street in March. In 1891 census John, Mary and daughter Edith are living at Abbotswood, 90 Cupernham Road, Romsey Hants. John is described as retired chemist living on own means.

Mary and half-sister Eliza marry on the same day.

Note on Wife: Mary Susan Niner Berry

In 1851 Mary is a visitor at the house of Jane Hobbs, in Gloucester St Michael.. She is then a governess. In 1861 she is Mistress at the National School, the South Hamlet, Gloucester. Fellow teacher Emily Cook is a boarder in the School cottage with her. She is living with her stepmother under her married name at 1871 census, described as married, not widowed.
