In 1851 he was in Newton Abbot with his parents. In 1861 he was an agricultural apprentice in Moretonhampstead. In 1871 at Alphington Street, St Thomas. In 1900, widowed, he was with his son James in Springport Town, Cayuga, New York.

In 1900 he is with his father. On his draft card he is described as a farmer and assisitant undertaker. In 1930 he is with his wife Addie and unmarried child, Hannah, in Springport Town, Cayuga, New York
