In 1865 Lewis William Wright went to London for the first time, aged 15
In 1881 Lewis and Mary Martha are at 2 High Street, Crediton.By 1891 he is back in Sandford.
In 1894 Lewis received the third highest vote in the first election of the Parish Council at Sandford.As well as being a Parish Councillor he was on the Board of Sandford Charity Trustees
Kelly's directory of 1889 shows Lewis William Wright as an implement manufacturer, but alongside James Wright - iron founder , West of England iron works, and also there is an entry for R Wright and sons, (established over half a century) machinists and agricultural implement manufacturers agents for all the leading makers, Britannia Iron works, & at New Buildings!
In the 1901 Census the West of England Ironworks seems to be next to the Britannia Ironworks workshop, both adjacent to the Rose and Crown
In 1902 Kellys, next to his wife's entry as the owner of James Wright business, Lewis has a seperate entry as Wright, Lewis William, machinist.
In Kellys 1910 Directory Mary Martha Wright is listed as blacksmith in Sandford
Kellys for 1914 shows Mrs Mary Martha Wright as Blacksmith. In 1912-1918 Lewis is registered as a voter at the Village, Sandford, joined on the List by Mary Martha in 1918.24

The family is at Meadowside Sandford, and move to Broad View, in the Square at Sandford on 11th October 1927

Note on Child 1: Emma Kathleen Wright
Found note dated 14.1.48 from husband Nicholas requesting copy of birth certificate, with names and dates.
MMB's diary note - Miss Kate Wright went down to Miss Waller, 1898.On census day 1901 Emma Kathleen was described as help at the house of Mr William E Waller,67 and Mrs Susan Waller,58, at 34 Victoria Street, Exmouth - sister Nellie was visiting. Also visiting was Ellen Lake, of Cruwys Morchard - birthplace of Mrs Waller. Mr Waller was from Puddington. In 1911 Emma Kathleen is still with the Wallers, now at 39 Victoria Road, Exmouth, described as Assistant.
Emma was on holiday at Sandy Bay, Littleham staying with son Laurie in 1954. Whilst out walking in high winds she was blown over, and in the fall fatally injured herself. Four and a half year old grandson Nicholas had screamed when she told him that she was going on holiday and he was inconsolable, saying prophetically that he would never see his gran again.

Born at Land Farm, Sandford.JB Joined the army in 1905. He fought in the first battle in Flanders in August 1914, and in 1918 was invalided out with a broken leg.Probabaly in the Royal Army Service Corps according to military experts who have examined his cap badge in photos.

George and Lilian were living at Halberton, at least between the years of 1921 and 1925 - at Pleaces, Smiths and then Town House26
Note on Child 8: Nellie Louise Wright
On 7th November 1925, Nellie arrives back in England with May and Theo, on the Montnairn (or Montrose as recorded in Ancestry?), at Liverpool. She is going to Meadowside, Sandford.
