Note on Child 2: John Heard

In 1871 John seems to be lodging with two other young men, William Dewsham from Sandford and Richard Crook from Morchard Bishop, both aged 21, at Cleveland Street, Normanby, Yorks, where they are Ironstone Miners, lodging with James White from Crediton, and his wife Mary Ann, from Morchard Bishop.

Note on Child 3: William Henry Heard

In 1881 William and wife are at 23 Little Clifton Street where he is a brakeman, 1891 in 37 John Street, In 1901 45 Roseberry Road. In 1906,1909, 1910 and 1911 in Besley's Directory he is still at Roseberry Road, where he is described as a Railway guard.

Note on Child 4: Maria Heard

Maria seems to have entered service early at 11 in 1871 she is a servant in the household of Farmer Samuel Hawkins of Burrow Farm, Sandford.
