The portrait is by John Ponsford 1792-1870, of Plymouth and London, and was completed in 1842 when Elizabeth was 30.

Nicholas Pitts 1799-1870, Elizabeth's husband.

The companion portrait to Elizabeth, also painted by Ponsford, in 1850. The painter must have been a friend of the family.

Sth Allington House, Chivelstone, in this guise developed for Elizabeth and husband Nicholas Pitts, in c.1837 by Thomas Ponsford of Totnes.

There was a manor at South Allington at Domesday. The present building was probably the result of numerous redevelopments. The house has now been sympathetically restored and is offering bed and breakfast and self-catering accomodation. See Links Page
