Cause: Inquest verdict: "Found Drowned" DEATH BY DROWNING. - On Monday morning, at Sandford, the wife of Mr. Edward Milman was found drowned in Sandford Town Mill Pond. It appears that she had not lived on very friendly terms with her husband. She was about 55 years old, and he was much younger. When he married her she was the widow of the late Mr. Pickett, who used to keep the Lamb Inn, in Sandford. On Monday she got out of bed at about 5 o'clock in the morning, and her husband thought she was about to get him a cup of tea, but soon afterwards, as a labourer was passing the mill pond, which is very near the town, he saw a woman's bonnet and shawl lying on the bank; he immediately gave an alarm, and the body of the unfortunate woman was taken out of the water. She has left no children. An inquest was held on the body on Tuesday, and the jury returned a verdict of "Found Drowned." |
