No trace of a marriage between Grace and Francis has been found yet.10
For the baptism of Charles, Francis used the name Francis. For the baptisms of George Henry, Mary Isabella, Arthur Francis,Emma, and Joseph Herbert, Francis was recorded as William Francis. After the marriage to Sarah in 1901 he was recorded as Frank.
Grace was rejected by her family when she became pregnant with Frederick by a farm labourer, but provision was made for her in her father's will, though not for any of her children. "To my daughter Grace Sharland an annuity of £12 payable quarterly"10
