Note on Husband: John COOMBE

John seems to have been in the Royal Marines in 1871 on HMS Resistance, which on the night of the census was stationed off Rock Ferry, Birkenhead, Cheshire. The vessel was described as an Armour Plated Screw Ship. In 1881 he was with his mother Ann at 47 Gloster Road, Horfield, Gloucester, a carpenter and joiner, as he was after his marriage to Elizabeth when we find him in 1891 at 84 Colston Street, Bristol. In 1901 he was a foreman joiner with his family at 25 Badminton Road, St Paul, Bristol.According to a message from Pat Coombe on Ancestry, in 1908 they moved to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, where they can be found on the 1911 census. John, Elizabeth, Albert, Elsie, Sydney and Eva can be found living together. They then moved to Burlington, Ontario, Canada where John died in 1945.
