| Cause: Accidental Death: broken neck from a fall downstairs when partially invalided by an injured foot Address: Bullaford Cottage He had been off work for a month after a sack of wheat fell on his foot. After using crutches for a month the doctor said he had been able to walk with the aid of a stick. His wife slept in a different room. In the night she was woken at 4.00am by the sound of something falling downstairs. On getting up she found her husband lying doubled up by the foot of the stairs in the kitchen. He was dead. Coroner said that he had no doubt that the deceased had got out of bed in the middle of the night, walked to the stairs and his ankle had given out. |
