He had been to Exeter, then drinking with friends in Crediton, and at the Star Inn there. He was persuaded that he had enough. It appears that he fell from a raised pavement into the road. He was taken to the Starr Inn for First Aid. But he died three days later from his injuries. | ||

In 1841 it seems that Elizabeth and her daughter Elizabeth were living together as paupers in Sandford village, with no other family. They have both disappeared by the 1851 census.
