"I remember staying at No. 6 Hoe Gardens Plymouth with father's cousin Bert Discombe and his wife Marion. I would be about 12 years old. Plymouth still had a lot of bomb debris and a lot of shops were in Nissen Huts with a sign hanging outside. Marion told me they lived in the cellar during the raids.
