2nd Lt. George Cliff Berry, 4th Bn., Essex R., T.F. (EGYPT)
At Kefr Kasim, on the 19th Sept., 1918, he showed great gallantry and personal courage. He went back for about half a mile, in the dark, through a heavy artillery barrage, and, after completing his mission, returned successfully across the same ground, and reported personally. He rendered many other valuable services, continually volunteering throughout the day for dangerous missions.
Supplement to the London Gazette, 4 October 1919.
