Crewkerne

Guy Fawkes Day was celebrated here in the usual style. The time-honoured bonfire was lighted in a field opposite the Hermitage Brewery. Unfortunately, a lad of 13, named Edward Adams, son of Mr. Adams, currier, while walking about the field fell into a quarry, sustaining a severe wound in the forehead. He was taken home and is now progressing.

[He was in fact only 12]
