| He enlisted in January 1917 and went overseas in March. He went to France on 17 June 1917. He was bllown up by a shell in July, and went to hospital, then back to England. On 4 Oct 1917 he was posted to Quartermaster Stores. He had been slightly deaf when he enlisted, but though he had the condition for some years it did not greatly bother him. After being blown up, his hearing suffered greatly, and he suffered headaches and vertigo. He also suffered arterio sclerosis. He was deemed fit for Biii duty. | ||
