Educated at Cheltenham College. He passed the preliminary law exams at Cheltenham College, and was then articled to his father's partnership, of Wilson and Loye. Qualified as a solicitor in June 1899. Owing to the death of his father in 1896, he joined Lloyds bank.He volunteered for foreign service on the outbreak of war in 1914, but failed the medical. Enlisted in Bankers ' Bn. Royal Fusiliers, March 1916. Went to France in August 1916, was constantly engaged in special duties and patrols. Died of pneumonia that he contracted while under canvas at a base camp undergoing a course of machine gun instruction. Died at a casualty clkearing station. Is buried at Lillers.
