He married my Great Aunt Kate Pitts, one of the daughters of the house, in the Brethren chapel, Kingsbridge.
By the time he married Kate they had moved to Woolfardisworthy, and by Winifred's birth they were in Cornwall, at Withiel, where he was a farm labourer.
Although she seemed to use the name Kate by preference, she was christened Sarah Kate. In 1891 she was visiting 85 year old William Cole, her (step) grandfather at nearby Bickerton.
