Note on Husband: William Elliott PITTS

After Katherine's death,William seemed to be farming at Shute, Bishopsteignton. William Jnr was being looked after in the village. His death was reported by Jane Vinal Walter, aged 19, who was present at the death. In 1851 she was a visitor at Woolsgrove, Bishopsteignton, the farm of James Cornish. She married William Splatt in Bishopsteignton, and her married life seemed to take her around the country, though she was staying with the Cornish family again in 1861. How did she come to be at the death of my g-g-grandfather? In 1891 Splatt was described as a Marine Surveyor
