Note on Husband: Albert Edward GREENSLADE (2)

When the First World War was declared he joined the Devonshire Regiment, but rapidly became too ill to serve, perhaps with TB. Born in Exeter in 1873 he died at home on 19 June 1915. He is remembered on the Pinhoe War Memorial.

Note on Wife: Mary ROWE

On Tuesday September 15 1925 a row of thatched cottages at Pinhoe, including the one where Mary was living with her niece Mary Rowe, were almost destroyed by fire, and the occupants were made homeless. Among the things lost in the fire were a number of wedding presents, given in anticipation of the marriage of niece Mary to Leonard Strong. The loss was made good through subscriptions collected by local newspapers and others.
