Criterion Inn, Waterbeer Street The licence was transferred from Mr. Tavener to Mr. William Henry Hattin, formerly of the Seven Stars, St.Thomas. In 1891 at the licensing session of February 1891 the Criterion Inn was described as having a very rough class of trade, and a previous landlord seemed to have lost all control of the Inn, following the arrival of two batteries of Artillery from India, who frequented the house. Hattin lasted less than a year as licensee. |
