Individual Note

He was three times sent back to England wounded, and was killed in

action on 22 Mar 1918 at Henin Hill, aged not quite 21, during the "Great Retreat" just

before the tide turned in the war. With his sergeant, he delayed the Germans at a

strategic spot and both were killed, as mentioned in dispatches.
